Privacy Policy
Accurate Ruler is built on a simple principle: the tool should work entirely in your browser, with no data leaving your device. This page explains exactly what we collect (almost nothing), what we store (a few local preferences), and what we will never do.
1. Information We Collect
We do not collect personal information. We do not ask for your name, email address, location, or any other identifying detail. We do not run analytics scripts, advertising trackers, or third-party pixels on this site.
2. Cookies
Accurate Ruler does not use cookies — not session cookies, not tracking cookies, not advertising cookies. Your browser will not receive a cookie from this website.
3. Local Storage
To improve your experience between visits, we store a small number of preferences directly in your browser using the Web Storage API (localStorage). These values never leave your device and are never transmitted to any server. The values stored are: your calibrated PPI value (ruler_ppi), your chosen measurement unit (ruler_unit), and your theme preference (ruler_theme). You can clear these at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this domain.
4. Server Logs
Like all websites, our hosting provider may record standard server access logs — your IP address, browser type, referring URL, and the page requested. These logs are used solely for security monitoring and diagnosing server errors. They are not linked to any personal profile and are retained for a maximum of 30 days.
5. Third-Party Services
The only third-party resource loaded by Accurate Ruler is the Inter typeface from Google Fonts, which is requested from Google's CDN when you visit. Google's privacy policy governs that request. We do not embed social media widgets, advertising networks, or analytics SDKs from any third party.
6. Children's Privacy
Accurate Ruler is a general-purpose measurement tool suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.
7. Changes to This Policy
If we ever change this policy in a meaningful way — for example, if we add analytics — we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We will not change this policy to be less protective of your privacy without clearly communicating the change here.
